What we have been doing

Bijoya Sammelani   [11. Oct. 2009 - 23:00]

The Bijoya Sammelani programme for our retired Teachers, held yesterday, was a resounding success! The event included, music, dance, plays, recitations, and speeches, including a few performances by the Teachers, who stepped up to participate on their own accord. The usual confabulations between and among ex-teachers and ex-students, over the refreshments served to the guests, stretched for well over several hours.

The warmth and bonhomie among all attendees were clearly palpable. Several Teachers who could not make it to the event called us during the day to express their regret at not being able to attend. Indeed, their colleagues, who were in attendance, had called them up with glowing reviews of the programme. The Teachers were given a visual tour of our new (and still evolving) web site.

In addition, a few salient aspects of the modus operandi of Pointers Who Care were explicated to all who attended:

  1. Our organisation comprises only volunteers, who are ex-students of South Point and South Point High School. We do not have any current or retired Teachers among our members.
  2. We will not accept funds that are NOT made out specifically to Pointers Who Care.
  3. We are not responsible for (and do not condone) the activities of others who may purport to be working on behalf of our organisation.
  4. The raison d'être of this organization was the creation of operating principles in which transparency and accountability of resources are paramount. PWC stands by that commitment, unwaveringly.
