An Orthopedic Camp was held for our teachers on 22 November, 2009. Pointer Dr. Amal Bhattacharya (1972 MP) started the camp around 2:15 pm in his chamber and continued till 7:00 pm, giving all sixteen teachers who participated, a patient hearing on their problems, taking X-rays when necessary, examining their conditions, prescribing medicines, and then sending them to the physiotherapist to advise them on the exercises that were appropriate for them. Because of how lengthy each of these processes were, the duration of the camp had to be extended well beyond the original plan. But, as always, the volunteers of PWC stood by courteously and smilingly through the end of the event. Needless to say, the teachers were delighted at how they were taken care of, with volunteers accompanying and assisting them, constantly shuttling between the chamber, the X-ray room and the physiotherapy room. Dr. Bhattacharya has offered asubstantial discount for the blood tests (if the teachers chose to avail of those services at his lab). The blood samples could be collected from the residence of the teachers, at their convenience. [Click here for photos.] |
